Beenish Riaz is a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations at Columbia University, with a minor in Comparative Politics. Her dissertation examines the interplay of norms, law, identity, and strategy in war, with a focus on the destruction and protection of cultural property. She previously earned her J.D. from NYU School of Law, where she specialized in international law. After law school, she practiced international human rights and nonprofit law for two years. She holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science and English from Macalester College.
