Daniel Yoon

Daniel Yoon is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at the George Washington University (GWU) and research fellow-in-residence at the Institute for Security and Conflict Studies (ISCS) at GWU. His dissertation project explores great power politics in an age of deepening political polarization. It investigates the conditions under which states exploit adversaries experiencing periods of domestic political instability - and the conditions under which they exhibit restraint despite the opportunity to do so. Daniel's broader research interests include international rivalries, hegemonic transitions, and the domestic politics of historic inter-state animosity.

Prior to graduate school, Daniel worked at the Boston Consulting Group as a defense industry analyst and in the intelligence community as a foreign language specialist. He received a Master of Science in International Relations Theory at the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Economics at Tufts University.
