Maj. Ben Miles

Major Ben Miles currently serves as a Commandant of the Marine Corps Fellow at the O’Brien Notre Dame International Security Center. Commissioning in 2013, he began his career in the Marine Corps as a Tank Officer, serving as a platoon commander and company executive officer at 1st Tank Battalion. Following these positions, Major Miles deployed during Operation Inherent Resolve, serving on a Marine Task Force in Iraq as a Personal Security Detail Team Leader.
After obtaining the Military Occupational Specialty of Logistics Officer in 2023, his field-grade operational forces positions include Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, and most recently Battalion Executive Officer at 2d Maintenance Battalion, where he managed the battalion staff and unit programs to provide ground intermediate maintenance support to II Marine Expeditionary Force units.
In the supporting establishment, he served as an instructor in the Weapons, Robotics, and Control Engineering Department at the United States Naval Academy, instructing in curricula surrounding naval weapon systems and
autonomy in weapon systems.
Educationally, Major Miles holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a M.S. in Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School, and graduated with distinction from the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program.
