Samuel Benjamin Gerstle

Sam Gerstle is a PhD Candidate in International Relations and Comparative Politics at Boston University and a Predoctoral Fellow in the International Security Program at Harvard University's Belfer Center. He studies the relationship between economic and military power and his dissertation asks why some states are better than others at industrial mobilization for war. Other interests include bureaucracies, industrial policy, and deterrence. He has a regional focus on East Asia and Japan.
