Wendy He is a final year PhD candidate in International Relations at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University Singapore. My main research interest is the interplay between emotions and confidence in wartime grand strategy decision-making. My PhD thesis, tentatively titled, Feeling Confident: Leaders, Advisors and the Assessment of Adversaries at the onset of the Korean War, examines how variation in leaders and advisors’ confidence systematically shapes the culturally-driven advisory process and influences their assessments of adversaries in war. Before starting my PhD, I was a Senior Research Analyst with the Military Studies Programme at RSIS, NTU, where I conducted research in military affairs and decision-making as well as taught military officers at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College.
